Race for Life 2013- The race!

Despite the very unpromising weather forecast, Race for Life went ahead.  Waves of chatter and laughter hit the halls of school as costumes, wigs and headbands were revealed.  Mrs Ward, staff and children set out the course and the cakes baked for the occasion were laid out for purchase.
Umbrellas were gathered together as the whole school  set out for the field.

The initial splash of rain was soon forgotten as the tension and anticipation rose.  A count down from 10 and we were off...

What followed was a fabulously heart warming afternoon.  Giggles, perseverance, team work, friendship and a common goal.  The race was completed by all and in variety of ways: running, walking, skipping and even a couple of laps in a wheelbarrow!

All who cheered on and took part seemed to feel a tremendous amount of pride, both in themselves and each other.  Those who finished early continued to run with friends to urge them on to the finish line.

What an amazing and unique school!

A huge thank you to runners, walkers, wheelbarrow pushers, crowd, sponsors, cake bakers, stampers, photographers and a huge thank you to Mrs Ward for organising such a fantastic event as well as a most enjoyable sports week.
