Eggstreme Sports Day 2012

On Monday 26th March 2012, we held an Eggstreme Sports Day at school.  The children had to transform an ordinary hard boiled egg into a sporting character to take part in one of the four eggstreme sports: catapulting, parachuting, bungee jumping or zip wiring.  Not only did they have to decorate their egg, but they had to design a way of keeping their eggs in one piece during their chosen sporting event.  For some this was building a parachute, for others, a protective pod for their egg as it was catapulted across the school field.

Mrs Taylor began judging the eggs and casing based on design before we took our competitors outside to the 'eggrena' for the main event!
The eggs were flung, hurdled, pushed and bounced through the events, some lived to tell the tale, others with minor cracks, some unlucky eggs with major injuries.
Mrs Taylor, once again, judged the eggs based on performance during each event and eventually eight winners were chosen and awarded prizes at the end of the day.
The children agreed it was a 'totally cool' day and they thoroughly enjoyed decorating their eggs and watching them fly through the air.  Some were disappointed if their egg cracked, but other hardened egg trainers suggested that next year, we compete on the playground and use the harder surface!  A big thank you to all the Mums, Dads and other adults who came out to support the event and a big thanks to all the members of staff  without whom days like this would not be possible.
Watch this space for 'Eggstreme Sports 2013- The Eggs Revenge'!
