This afternoon, all children went out to the school field to run heats to discover who would take part in the sprint finals on Sports Day. Result will be confirmed very soon. Well done to all those who took part.

James Campbell and The Marmalade Cow
Today we were extremely fortunate to have a visit from author, James Campbell. Both KS1 and KS2 spent an hour enjoying his company. The beautiful photos, taken by Mrs Gill, only just begin to show how much the children (and the adults) enjoyed themselves. Cries of 'KELSALE', 'Marmalade Cow' and 'Watch out for wild lollipop ladies' could be heard long into the afternoon.
A huge thank you for your time, James.
James's books- the Boy Face series- are available from all good bookshops (if they don't have his books, they can't be very good).
James is also appearing at the New Wolsey Theatre on Monday 24th October 2016 in Comedy 4 Kids

Well worth booking tickets. I certainly am.

Sports Fortnight Day 2- Tchouckball Tournament
This afternoon, classes 3 and 4 took part in a tchouckball tournament within their colour teams. The children were both competitive and sportsman-like and, as a result, had a fun-filled afternoon. Points will be awarded to the winners on Sports day.

Sports Fortnight Day 2- Golf
Mrs Taylor and Mr Marson kindly gave their time to teach golf lessons to some groups of children today. The children practiced driving and putting on a purpose made green. Other classes have been timetabled in for a golf taster session during the fortnight. Thank you xx

Sports Fortnight Day 2- Samba
A big thank you to the lovely Bess today for the fantastic samba lessons. It was such a lovely day, the children were able to 'strut their stuff' on the playground and had such a fabulous time. Other classes will have their opportunity tomorrow.

Sports Fortnight- Day 1- Sports Maths
Just to prove Maths can be taught across the curriculum, we have incorporated it into our Maths lessons this week. Today, we took part in four field events: Standing long jump, standing high jump, bean bag throw and shot put. In each case, we threw or jumped, estimated the distance and then used tape measures to measure the actual distances, reading intervals carefully, and then recording the results to use in further Maths lessons this week.

Sports Fortnight- Day 1
It's that time again folks. I really look forward to sports fortnight. I get to take or show off some beautiful photos of the children engaging with an enriching, enjoyable and educational curriculum and the joy on their faces are plain to see.
Today, Mrs Spencer organised Premier Sport to come into school to teach some Paralympic games, including sitting volley ball for KS1, and boccia for KS2.
This gave the children a real insight into the high skill level required to play these sports, but also allowed them to see that with resilience and persistence, their needn't be barriers to sport.
