Today, as well as Christmas lunch, the children spent time learning about the meaning behind the Christingle service and the Christingle itself. We discussed the importance of thinking of others at this special time of year and how fortunate we are to have loving family and friends.
Rev. Andy lead the school in a candle lit service. An air of peace and contentment filled the hall. A beautiful end to the day.

Christmas Lunch 2014
Today, the whole school enjoyed a beautiful, festive and delicious school lunch cooked by Lucy Hall and her helpers, Nastasha and Coral. We all had a fantastic time and spent the afternoon feeling very full, but very happy.

What a Star! KS1 Christmas Production.
What a fantastic night! KS1 wowed their audience with a bright, vibrant and beautifully performed nativity. Despite the heave schedule and later night, the children bounced into the hall for their final performance and sung their hearts out. A big congratulations to all the staff/producers/choreographers/music technicians and stage hands and a massive well doe to all the children/actors/choir/stars!
DVDs will be on sale in the very near future. Letters will be on their way home soon.

Gingerbread houses
Classes 4 and 5 have been in a Christmas frenzy this week. They have all completed a Gingerbread house project using a range of skills including scaling, 3D drawing and model building, weighing ad measuring, reading scales and design. The project was certainly not without its challenges, but with excellent team work, the children were able to find solutions. I think you will agree, the results were worthwhile.
Christmas Decoration Day 2014
A quick catch up before things really get busy at school next week! If you haven't been into school recently or haven't looked up, you may not have notice the beautiful decorations adorning the school corridor and hall. All the work of the children and helpers on Christmas decoration day. Come and have a look.

Rededication Of the Lychgate at St Marys and St Peters Church, Kelsale
Children, adults from school and some parents walked to Church this morning for the much anticipated rededication of the Lychgate. Monies for the Lychgate fund had been collected as past of a restoration collection and work had now been completed.
Acting Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, the Rt Rev Dr David Thomson carried out the rededication and the children enjoyed listening to his talk and interacting with him as he blessed the lychgate and the children. Mrs Taylor read a reading from the bible and our two eldest collective worship monitors lead the congregation in prayer.
Photographs of the rededication ceremony can be seen at the links below:
Plus a mention on Rt Rev Dr David Thomson's blog.
We felt excited and honoured to be a part of this special morning.

Guy making 2014
Today was the day for our annual Guy making day in preparation for the village fireworks event. The children were split into groups mixed from years 3 to 6. The children had to plan their guy using the theme 'Historical Villains'. Plans including inspiration from Peter Pan, Harry Potter and even The infamous 'Hand of God', Maradona.
All children worked incredibly well together with straw flying, giggles and inspirational guys produced.
Members of the parish council will be coming into school to judge our guys in the morning, although all guys are certainly worthy of a prize. Well done Kelsale.

Class 4 Collective Worship

Spellbinder
We were treated today with another visit from The Spellbinder. Unfortunately, Spellbinder lady is still not very well but we send her our love and best wishes.
It is difficult, with just the aid of a camera, to capture the magic Spellbinder brings with him every time he visits. The only way you can get a clue is to look at the faces of the children who are enthralled by his stories and giggle during his songs and dances. Please enjoy the pictures below (first set- KS1 and second set- KS2).

Football match- Kelsale CEVCP Versus Benhall
A fabulous turn out by parents (and some rowdy staff) to support the two teams. Both teams showed amazing sportsmanship and cheered each other on, whether they were playing or not. As Mrs Taylor said, it made her feel very proud, not only because of the performance of the teams, winning one match (4-1) and losing the next (with a very close 0-1), but also on the way the teams supported each other.
Fantastic work Kelsale!

Harvest parcels delivered to the Community
Thank you to the amazing parents who gave their time to parcel up all the harvest contributions and to those who gave their time to deliver the parcels with all of KS2 children. We met some lovely people on our journey around Kelsale on a beautiful sunny morning.

Year 6 'Wake over' camping night
Well, the Year 6's were not kidding when they affectionately names the camping night the 'Wake over'. Despite a very late night and a very early morning (the girls actually woke up Rodney the Rooster), we all had an amazing time with lots of giggles and fun.
We started the afternoon by putting up tents and setting up camp (a massive thank you to parents for loaning equipment and help putting up tents).
We followed this with games of football, rounders and a swim in the pool before settling down to a BBQ tea.
The evening continued with more food, much laughter and some circus skills before PJ's were put on and children went to their tents.
What seemed like only a couple of hours later, the girls were awake and using their sleeping bags for sack races and their new game, sleeping bag Mexican waves (I will try and upload the video as soon as possible). My camera was hijacked by the girls, so the photos are mostly taken by them.
A massive thank you to Mr Gill and Mr Morphy for their time and sleep time to enable this lovely event to take place.
As, I said initially, despite the lack of sleep, I, personally, had a fabulous time and will take with me many beautiful memories of a beautiful group of year 6 children whom I will miss very much.
We all wish them all the best for their transfer at high school xxx.

Year 6 Blessing Service 2014
On Monday morning, the whole school (it is now one seriously long crocodile line) walked down to the church on a lovely July morning. We were met by Rev. Andy who led the blessing service. The year 6 children read out their memories of life at Kelsale school, renewing memories for the staff and making us giggle. Rev. Andy then gave individual blessings for the children, wishing them luck for the next part of life's journey.

Country Dancing
After school picnic today, all of KS2 and a band of happy helpers walked down to Carlton Park for a country dancing festival. We were greeted by a live band and several other schools ready to dance.
We skipped the afternoon away and had an amazing time, as can be seen by the photos below.
A huge thank you to all the children for their brilliant behaviour and a massive thank you to all the helpers for their support and fabulous dance moves!

Sports Day and Fete 2014
The fete and sports day took part on what initially looked like a drizzly July day. As the spirits rose, the sun broke through the clouds. The Friends popped up the gazebos and the Year 5/6's set up their stalls and Mrs Ward and Miss Dempsey scampered around the school field attempting to organise Sports Day.
The damp start to the day belied the fantastic races, hive of activity and many visitors that shone through the afternoon. A huge effort from all meant a very successful and enjoyable afternoon took place, as can be seen from the beautiful photos taken by Mrs Gill. A huge thank you to all who supported the event.

World Cup Football tournament
Tonight a group of year 3-5 children took part in a world cup inspired 5 a side football tournament. Both A and B teams displayed excellent sportsmanship and tried their best. The A team won the tournament beating Coldfair Green in the final. They were awarded a trophy and individual medals.
Well done to Nick Denny the coach and Sam Dempsey who assists.
We are all very proud of them!

Golf with KS2
Mrs Taylor and Mr Marson kindly offered to give KS2 children a golf lesson this morning, as part of the extended sports week. We borrowed some equipment from local golf clubs and Andy Hall created a putting green on the front grass area and the main field became a driving range.
Some children realised that they had a natural golfing ability and are encouraged to look into local lessons. The opportunity to try new and exciting sports makes sports week very worth while.

Race For Life 2014
A completely unforgettable afternoon spent with some amazing children, some sensational staff members and very supportive parents. The sun was blazing and the temperature soared, but still the shade of the beautiful trees enabled everyone to complete the 5km, either walking, running, jogging, skipping or limping. A fantastic, positive and inspiring atmosphere gave me another reason to feel very fortunate to belong to Kelsale school.

Thursday: Beach day!!!!
Today we all went to West Runton Beach!
We went rock pooling in the morning and found many crabs, hermit crabs, sea urchins, water snails, limpets and barnacles. We then had lunch on the beach and a sand castle competition!
We have since been fed: Sausage, Mash and Beans followed by jam roly poly and custard!
We are now waiting for the talent show to start and we will be having a bonfire and marshmallows!
All are now in bed and we are hoping to be packed and on the coach for 9:30 tomorrow, ready to go to the castle.
